New Trees for Winchcombe School Garden

Thank you to Gloucestershire County Council for their generous support

We were delighted to receive new yew trees for the school garden, to replace those that sadly failed to survive the successive heat waves this summer. We’ve also received a beautiful new greengage (plum) tree and a flowering cherry, both of which promise delicious harvests in the years ahead.

This completes our tree planting plans for the garden. In time, the spring blossom of the fruit trees should look spectacular against the dark green of the yew tree hedge. And of course the apples, plums and cherries from the garden will surely be enjoyed by pupils, staff and local wildlife alike.

We look forward to further developing the garden in 2026.

Party in the Park

Saturday 28th June 2026

Party in the Park 2025 was a fantastic success, and we’re delighted to have been offered a gazebo at Party in the Park 2026.

This gives us a great opportunity to connect with young people and spark conversations about green issues throughout the event. If you have ideas for activities, displays, or ways to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Please get in touch to share your thoughts or find out more.

Crocus Planting

In aid of End Polio Now campaign

Pupils Help Plant “End Polio Now” Crocus Display

Pupils at Winchcombe School have helped plant over 2,000 crocus bulbs spelling out the words “End Polio Now” as part of a polio awareness campaign led by the Winchcombe Rotary Club.

A big thank you to our local Rotarians for organising this wonderful project and providing the corms, and to everyone – including our pupils – who took part in the planting.

We look forward to a vibrant burst of purple blooms in the spring. The display will not only brighten our school gardens but also serve as a beautiful reminder of the ongoing effort to end polio worldwide and the importance of vaccination.
